Dr G. W. Fitz was an associate professor of physiology and hygiene at Harvard University, where he lectured in general hygiene and the history of physical education. Otherwise, I have not been able to find further biographical information about him.

Causes of Malnutrition  -  Patent Foods  - Periods of Greatest Growth.

 

     In a series of lectures given at the School of Housekeeping on the hygiene of childhood, Dr. Fitz pointed out that any marked diminution of growth in infancy suggests some trouble.

     Dr. Fitz gave interesting explanations of facts noted by such observers as Malling-Hansen showing that human growth is greatest between the first of August and the first of January and moderate growth from that time to April. Between April and July there is loss of weight, or no growth.
